Child Therapy

ACT

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a form of psychotherapy that uses acceptance and mindfulness techniques to help individuals live more meaningfully while developing psychological flexibility. Developed by Steven C. Hayes and others, ACT aims to help individuals accept difficult emotions, thoughts, memories, and other private events, especially those that are traumatic or causing distress. The goal is to live in the present, engage in values-based actions that promote meaning and life satisfaction. ACT differs from traditional CBT in its focus on mindfulness, values, and committed action as a pathway to psychological flexibility and living a meaningful life.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy technique for treating traumatic memories. Developed by Francine Shapiro, it involves bilateral stimulation such as eye movements or tapping to simulate REM sleep and promote new neural pathways. This helps the brain reprocess distressing memories, reducing their negative impact. EMDR has shown efficacy in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression.

IFS

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a transformative, non-pathologizing model of psychotherapy developed by Richard Schwartz. It views the mind as a system of sub-personalities, each with its own viewpoint, feelings, memories, and wisdom. IFS focuses on the interplay between these internal "parts" and the "Self," the core of who we are. The goal is to help the Self harmoniously lead the internal system by compassionately understanding and addressing the concerns of all parts. This allows for healing, promotes resilience, and fosters well-being. IFS is used for a wide range of mental health issues and can be integrated with other therapeutic approaches.

Mindfulness

This non-judgmental acceptance of the present moment reduces stress and anxiety. Mindfulness practices, such as meditation and deep breathing, increase self-awareness and emotional regulation. SFT

Solutions Focused Therapy (SFT) is a goal-oriented, evidence-based therapeutic approach. Developed by Steve de Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg, SFT emphasizes solutions rather than problems. It's a brief therapy form focusing on the present and future, helping clients identify and build on strengths and resources to achieve desired outcomes. Core practices include goal setting, identifying exceptions (times when the problem could have happened but didn't), and amplifying solutions. SFT is effective in addressing various mental health issues in individuals, couples, and families.
