Hi, I'm Chris, a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Advanced Drug and Alcohol Counselor. I understand that finding a new therapist is like finding a new friend; not everyone "connects" and hits it off, and that's okay. What's important to me is that you feel safe and that you can trust and believe in not only your therapist, but the process of the therapy being used as well. My goal is for you to get the help and the results that you are looking for.
At any given point, circumstances of life can become so overwhelming that logic and emotion become confused. This confusion can lead to overwhelming psychological problems that result in a loss of clarity and direction in life. It’s how we handle the never-ending changes life throws our way that determines our level of inner peace. Unfortunately, people often get stuck and are unable to adapt to life’s circumstances due to past trauma, unresolved losses, addiction, relationship problems, fear, and/or depression, among many other possibilities. People take back control of their life by reconsidering and modifying how they perceive and interact within their world.
I use a variety of straightforward Cognitive Behavioral Therapy combined Pscycho-dynamic counseling techniques to empower individuals to easily open up and safely explore their conscious and subconscious beliefs, perspectives, and emotions. By discovering one's own personal resilience, innate personal value, and direction in life, people regain control and get back to living a fulfilling life.
I have over 29 years of experience working in a variety of clinical and mental health settings. These opportunities have provided me with experience serving a diverse group of individuals who have faced an assortment of life challenges. I graduated from Western Michigan University with a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology and I received my Bachelor's Degree from Grand Valley State University in Psychology. I have also received additional training in Advanced Ministry Treatment for individuals seeking therapy from a more Christian based and Biblically consistent theology.
I am actively involved as an Elder/Board Member in my church and also formerly served on the Child Evangelism Fellowship Board for Barry and Calhoun Counties. I have been married for 28 years and have three children; two who are currently in college and one still in High School. In my free time I enjoy hunting and fishing, camping, gardening, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
